COFFEE WITH CRESPO
is an opportunity for Waters parents to meet in a smaller, more informal environment with Principal Crespo. The Coffees allow parents to bring up topics regarding schoolwide issues for discussion with Principal Crespo and the group as a whole. The last session will be held May 29 from 8:30am-9:30am. Cheer On The Wildcats
A Book Swap will be held for K through 8th grade in June (exact day TBD). Students are invited to bring one to three gently used picture books, storybooks, and/or chapter books. Each student will trade one book for each book brought in. One additional book is requested per student, which will be donated to children in need. All books will be offered for the swap; those not selected will be donated. Send books to your child’s homeroom teacher as soon as possible.
Local School Council (LSC) Vacancy
VACANCY FOR PARENT REPRESENTATIVE POSITION
A parent position has opened up on the Local School Council. Any parent wishing to apply should do so by Tuesday, June 2. Applications in both English and Spanish are available in the office or online.

Waters Today Public Meeting
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3, 6:00 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the Waters Today public meeting on June 3. The Waters Today budget, volunteer opportunities, fundraising calendar, new Kinder mentoring program and board member positions will be discussed.
Board positions involve a two-year term, the first year working as a co-chair and the following year leading the charge. We are still looking for volunteers to fill the following positions for the 2015-2016 school year: Vice President and Volunteer Coordinator Co-chair. Please reach out for more information or if you are interested in a board role.
Getting Inside: The Vernacular Of Outsider Artists
WATERS STUDENT ART SHOW
THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
All students, K-8, have used watercolor paint, mosaic tiles, wire, yarn, glitter and a variety of wet, dry and 3D mixed media to create expressive, original creations inspired by outsider, self-taught, intuitive and vernacular artists. This artwork will be showcased in our year-end show on June 4.
FRIDAY, JUNE 5
Field Day is scheduled for June 5th. All classes in all grade levels will participate in an exciting day filled with fun games and outdoor activities around our beautiful campus. The students will rotate through 8 or 9 stations of challenging but fun races and games. The current schedule is as follows:
8:45 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. – K-2nd
10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. – 6th-8th
12:45 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. – 3rd-5th
FRIDAY, JUNE 5
Students will participate in Waters’ first-annual jog/walk-a-thon on June 5th during Field Day, completing as many laps around Waters school as possible in 30 minutes. Students may seek sponsors to support their jog/walk challenge. Due date for pledges is May 29, 2015, all proceeds benefit the Waters Physical Education and Sports department.
Schedule as follows*:
8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. – 5th & 6th grades
9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. – 3rd & 4th grades
12:15 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. – 2nd grade
1:15 p.m. - 2:15p.m. – K & 1st grades
2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. – 7 & 8th grades
*Time added for set up and student water breaks and cool down. Walk time is 30 minutes.
Degenberg Academy Fundraiser
May 25th through June 15th
Team up to raise money for Waters Elementary! Degerberg Academy in Lincoln Square at 4717 N Lincoln Ave. is offering six weeks of martial arts lessons for only $69, and 100% of the fee goes directly to Waters! Pay at Degerberg in cash or with check made out to Waters Today.

If you live within the attendance area and your child is in Kindergarten or older, you are automatically guaranteed admission to our school. Preregistration is preferred to plan for appropriate staff numbers.
