SPECIAL SERVICES
Diverse Learners
The CPS Office of Diverse Learner Supports and Services (ODLSS) provides the tools to ensure that all Diverse Learners receive a high-quality public education that prepares students for success. ODLSS is responsible for student evaluations, creating and monitoring Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and working with schools, staff, and families to fulfill these plans towards greater student development and achievement.
Services provided to diverse learner students are guided by federal law, including the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Illinois State Board of Education.
To find out more about student evaluations and the IEP/504 process, contact the school counselor, Ms. Bricker. The full diverse learner teacher and support teams are listed here. To get involved with the Parents of Diverse Learners Committee, contact parent volunteer Kelli Landes.
ELL Liaison
The ELL (English Language Learner) Liaison coordinates and oversees the required English Language proficiency screens and assures the ELLs are placed appropriately in programs of instruction. Contact Ms. Alvarez to find out more about ELL support.
