This year Waters School offers both Tuition-Based and Free PreK for All Programs. Your child must be 3 by Sept. 1 of the school year, and potty trained, to qualify for either. Our program, based on Creative Curriculum, utilizes centers that are incorporated throughout classroom settings and daily activities. The class is divided into these centers to help children grow in all areas of their development. Here is a brief list of learning centers that may be found in the classroom: Art, Blocks, Dramatics, Manipulatives, Reading/Listening, Writing, Computer, Music, Science/Discovery.
The PreKs have their own garden bed in the Ecology garden, where they will experience their environment and what lives in it (including the food that grows there!).
Waters’ Tuition-Based Pre-School offers (in addition to reading-readiness and math activities and in-class learning centers) exposure to its Fine Arts, Drama, Music, Gym, and hands-on Ecology as part of the curriculum. Waters school teachers will come into their classrooms periodically to give them this experience. This may also happen in some subjects (particularly Art or Music) in the PreK for All program, but not as frequently, as the class duration is much shorter and it is more difficult to schedule.
Tuition-Based Pre-School
Waters’ Program runs from 8:00 am - 6:00pm for parents who need it for all day care. Students can stay for less than the full day, but must still pay the full tuition. Children must be age 3 by September 1 and toilet-trained to attend. 20 spots is the maximum allowed. Enrollment, although on a first-come first-served basis, takes in-district children first.
Free Pre-K For All
Waters’ PreK for All Program offers the exact same curriculum as the Tuition-Based, but runs for only two-and-a-half hours (a.m. and p.m. options), and is free. Everyone of age qualifies, but the order of acceptance is prioritized by at-risk needs. Both 3 and 4 year olds at risk get priority access to this program before in-district children do. There is a maximum of 20 in both the a.m. and p.m. classes.
Hours:
a.m. class: 9:00-11:30am
p.m. class: 12:15-2:45pm
