March through May Practices
Mondays and Wednesdays – 3:15-4:30 p.m.
The goal of Girls On The Run is to foster confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Girls will spend time running at each practice as well as completing a service project and activities to boost their self confidence, and will run in a 5K at Butler Field (Grant Park) on Saturday, May 20.
We have two volunteer coaches, Colleen Herman and Melissa Mendez, who will be coaching one team of 15 girls in grades 3rd to 5th. Please reach out to Sandi Barlow if you are interested in coaching a second team at Waters. In the past, we have had up to 30 girls interested, but to support this many girls we will need additional volunteer coaches to lead a separate additional team.
If your daughter is interested, please enter your her in the lottery. The Girls on the Run downtown office will run a computer lottery to select which girls will be able to participate in the program. The cost is $85 per girl and there is financial assistance if you need it. All girls who enter the lottery should be able to commit to attending practice from 3:15 to 4:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays from March until May.
Coach Colleen and Coach Melissa can use additional assistant coaches at practice, especially when the girls are running outside, so please contact Colleen know if you are interested. We looking forward to have Assistant Coach Elizabeth Rangel helping us on Wednesdays.
