As a reminder, school will be closed from Monday, December 24th to Friday, January 4th. We look forward to seeing students again at 8:15 on Monday, January 7th. Here is a copy of the calendar for the remainder of the year.
 We look forward to celebrating the Winter Break with our Waters Winter Wonderland Dance this Friday!
All money raised for the dance will go to the 8th Grade Trip to St. Louis. This includes donations for coming to the dance as well as the photo booth. Please note, no students are turned away if they do not make the donation to attend the dance. The Student Leadership Group is trying a new "updated" photo booth using the little instant Polaroids. As it is a fundraiser, they have increased the cost to $5 per photo. (The price on the flyer was lower.) Your child can take a photo on their own or with two of their friends. They will be given their picture right when it is taken. The Leadership Students are excited to try this new format. Thank you for supporting the Waters Wildcats!  The Tuesday, December 18th Local School Council meeting will be canceled. Members of the Instructional Leadership Team will be doing a broad overview of the progress made thus far in the 2018-20 Continuous Improvement Work Plan and be available for questions about specific action items in the plan. Stay tuned for details about our next meeting.
 Buddy Bench is at Waters! Please see this flyer to learn more about the Buddy Bench and how it is used to help with find a friend to play with at recess. Teachers in grades 1-3 introduced the Buddy Bench concept this week. Right at School has also been informed and are instrumental in developing the use of the bench during recess. We encourage you to review with your child at home, especially those of you who have a 1st to 3rd grade student. The Buddy Bench is located in the "big" kids play lot on the northeast corner of the school.
 Join in the holiday fun! The week of December 17th to 21st will include fun dress up days for our students. Monday the 17th is Pajama Day, Tuesday the 18th is Ugly Sweater Day, Wednesday the 19th is Winter Scarf Day, Thursday the 20 is Holiday Headwear Day , and Friday is the Winterland Dance. Please see the REVISED schedule for more details.
 Next Parents of Diverse Learners Meeting! Join us to hear more about "Between Friends," the social-emotional learning curriculum Waters uses for grades 6 and up. This meeting has been postponed. Stay tuned for details. Thanks!
 During Digital Media class this week ALL students at Waters will be took part in Hour of Code. Last year, we were some of the 15 million students to take part in this world wide and we are excited to participate again. Each class has a "Certificate" of participation displayed in the school. Stickers were also passed out. K to 2nd completed Fuzzy Paths in Kodable. 3rd to 5th selected from Frozen, Moana, Minecraft, Star Wars, or Dance Party tutorials. 6th to 8th actually picked from ANY tutorial that they could find on the website.
