Artists as Alchemists: Makers, Transformers and Game Changers
December 15, 2017-January 16, 2018 – Waters 1st Floor

A TREMENDOUS thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to make our first semester art show, Artists as Alchemists: Makers, Transformers and Game Changers, such a success! It truly takes a village to make it all happen and your dedication, time and support is appreciated.
Thank you also to the Aloha Center Chicago for sharing their beautiful tradition of Polynesian art forms alive today in our own neighborhood. Kudos to our Waters School alumni family Lani, Hinano and Kamae! Thank you to our amazing docents, hands-on demonstration crew and all the artists who participated in our scavenger hunt. More than 60 scavenger hunts were completed and all 200 leis were distributed.

Our exhibit will be up until the second week in January. Please stop by and see the show! Aloha, Mrs. Vecchioni

Principal Evaluation Survey: New Deadline

LSC Conducts Online Survey
New Deadline: Sunday, December 31, 2017

Please note the deadline has been moved up for this survey! The Local School Council Principal Evaluation Committee invites parents and community members to complete the principal feedback survey. This online survey is anonymous, and will be used alongside several other sources of data to inform the committee as they compile Ms. Crespo's annual performance review. In previous years, the survey was distributed in the spring, but due to the deadlines associated with the end-of-contract evaluation process, we're conducting the survey early this year. We will not be distributing another survey in spring 2018.

If you haven't done so already, we invite you to fill out the parent/community principal evaluation survey by December 31. Learn more about the process here and contact Waters LSC with any questions.

This event is part of a joint initiative between the Chicago Police Department and Chicago Public Schools to promote community relations. The officers practice with the teams on a weekly basis and also provide practical advice on students' concerns within their neighborhoods. The next event will be in May 2018.

2017 STEM Exhibition
Friday, December 8 – Waters Elementary Gym 8:45 a.m.-2:15 p.m.

The 2017 STEM Exhibition (formerly Science Fair) takes place on Friday, December 8. We are looking for volunteers to judge the middle school students' projects. You don't need to have a science background to participate. Many judges are needed, as each project must be judged three times to qualify for the next competitive step: the City STEM Exhibition. Sign up to help. Thanks for giving our middle schoolers the opportunity to show you what they've learned! For more information email Ms. Ballasch, Science Fair Coordinator.
