Diverse Learners Parent Committee
February 2017

The Waters community is establishing a parent committee for Diverse Learners. This group will act as a support network for parents of students with IEPs or 504s, or with other diverse learning needs, so that we can support each other, and know we are supported by our school. Meetings will help explain the ins and outs of "special education" and will provide resources and ideas for parents. Our first meeting is tentativly scheduled for February – more information on schedule and topics coming soon! For more information, contact Kelli Landes.

6:30 p.m.
UPDATE: CPS Network 2 Chief Eduardo Cesario will be joining us for this month's LSC meeting! One of the primary responsibilities of our Local School Council (LSC) is to monitor the Continuous Improvement Work Plan (CIWP), which is the living document that drives the curriculum being taught at Waters. At next week's meeting, the LSC will give a progress report on the curriculum goals for 2016-18.  If you have interests, questions, or concerns about the curriculum and how it is implemented, student-led parent-teacher conferences, test scores, etc–please join us! We will also be hearing a new STEAM update and proposal from Mrs. Vecchioni and a report from our Bilingual Advisory Committee (BAC), in addition to our normal committee reports (tentative agenda). Finally, in the spirit of the season, bring a snack or treat to share if you feel so inclined!

Waters Music Program Notes
Thanks to all the families that have come out for all of our installments of "A Night Out With Mr Bradford." The shows have been fantastic. It's nice to see our Waters families out together. We're fortunate to have a resource available to us like this just blocks away. If you haven't attended a performance at Old Town School, please do yourself a favor and experience this great venue. I'll be listing future dates as soon as they become available for their spring shows.
Our classrooms have also taken several music field trips to Old Town already this year with more to come. We're also going to be providing more opportunity's for students to perform. We are presently planning additional performances for our classrooms and newely formed school choir later this school year. Those details will be coming soon.
Please check out The Waters Winter Fest show on December 21 and  22.
Mr. Bradford
