Waters Winter Fest 2016 – Classroom Holiday Performances
Wednesday, December 21 and Thursday, December 22
You are invited to see classroom holiday performances! There are three different shows with two perfromance times each, so all classrooms can participate and to accommodate seating as best as possible. Kindergarten and 1st grade have their own show, and odd and even grade levels will be on different days. Parents are encouraged to choose one performance time to attend. Seating will be first come, first serve and parents will sign in at the front table before lining up in the hallway to the gym. These shows are very popular and your understanding is appreciated. Parents are also encouraged to stay for the entire show so that all our students, who have worked on their performances, will have an audience.

CPS Mobilizing to Keep Schools Open on Monday

12/17/2016

Picture
With both a winter weather advisory and wind chill advisory this weekend, CPS is working through the weekend to ensure schools will be open on Monday. Engineers and custodians will begin working Saturday evening, plowing and shoveling the areas around the school (if the snow does come), and they will salt on Sunday.  With the brutal temps expected on Sunday into Monday, Central Office wants to do snow removal sooner than later before it turns to ice.  While the engineer and custodians are here, they will also check the boilers and to make sure everything is working and operational. Please be reminded that there are a number of "fake" reports online saying school will be closed.  If CPS closes schools, it will be announced on the news and through robocalls to parents.

Dangerously Cold
The high temperature today is to be only 6 or 7 degrees, with a wind chill well below zero. Please take care when bundling up your child to get to school. Dress in layers and make sure all extremeties are well covered. Recess will be indoors today. Parents may choose to keep their child home today, and they will not be penalized for doing so. Here is direct communication that Waters Administration has received from CPS: "With this week’s cold and snow, parents or guardians may contact you about keeping children out of school for safety concerns. If you receive such calls or concerns, you should grant these students an excused absence."
