Shop on AmazonSmile and Raise Money for Waters!

11/28/2015

AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support Waters Elementary school every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same low prices and selection as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to Waters.

On your first visit to AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), you need to select Waters Today as the charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. Amazon will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make at smile.amazon.com will result in a donation to Waters.

Thank you for your continued support to raise funds for our great school!

CPS Calls For Springfield to Provide ‘20 for 20’

11/23/2015

From the press release: “Our children deserve equal treatment. Since 2009, CPS has accounted for nearly 20 percent of state enrollment,” Claypool said. “If we simply got our fair share – 20 percent of funding – we would receive an additional $458 million this fiscal year alone, eliminating the budget gap that is threatening to derail our school year.”  Read the full release with CEO Forrest Claypool's speech here.  CPS is encouraging stakeholders to take action, and additional parent advocacy resources can be found at IL Raise Your Hand.  Read Principal Crespo's post about the budget crisis here.

Use social media to grow the garden!

11/23/2015

Help spread the word about this project for the Waters' school and community garden over at SeedMoney.org. The goal is to identify new donors to support the garden and ecology program through crowdsourcing, so please share this project via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, email or whatever platforms you frequent.  The campaign ends 12/16/16. Funds raised will go toward garden supplies, such as wheelbarrows, shelving, fencing, and/or an outdoor sink, based on Mr. Leki's needs.

Annual Give – We’re Almost There!

11/22/2015

Thank you donors, volunteers and teachers for a wonderful evening of celebration this past week at Himmel’s.

The tally is in and the Annual Give Fund currently sits at $67K. We’re still short of our $100K goal so if you have not yet donated and wish to do so you still have time! Donate Now. If you have donated, please check with your employer to see if a corporate match is possible. We want to do everything we can to keep our Ecology, Music, Sports programs in place as well as our Recess and Lunch Supervision from Right At School. Thanks again for your generosity and support for Waters – every little bit counts!

Let's Sell Coffee!

11/21/2015

Waters Elementary has teamed up with Colectivo Coffee to sell high quality coffee (whole bean and ground), tea and hot cocoa (mint and original). Everyone should have received an order form and sales sheet in their children's folder last week.

Approximately 40% of each sale you make will go to Waters Today and benefit the programs that make our school so special. Take the Colectivo packet with you over the Thanksgiving break to sell to your family and friends. These products make great holiday, hostess or teacher gifts.

Please collect all money at the time of the sale. Cash and checks are accepted - make checks payable to Waters Today. All order forms and money are due back to the classroom on 11/30. Orders will be available for distribution at Waters the week of 12/14. Let's sell some Colectivo!
