All students have access to the Brain Pop Suite of educational material.  Brain Pop, Jr (found at jr.brainpop.com) is for K to 3rd grade and Brain Pop (brainpop.com) is for 4th to 8th graders.  While these videos and activities are used be classroom teachers, students can also explore this at home on their own. Students were given the username and password in Digital Media.  Please email Ms. Herman if you need the username and password.

Some younger students call it "Moby" as that is the name of the robot in the program.  There are apps that you can download if you would like to use the program on a tablet.

Cross Country Runners at City Finals!

10/29/2018

Picture

Congratulations to our Cross Country Runners who competed at City Wide Finals over the weekend.  All runners did a great job. A special shout out to Forrest Durnbaugh, a 6th grader here at Waters School, for his spectacular run at the City Finals last weekend.  He placed 5th in his age group with a mile time of 6:09.18! What a great run.

Thank you for all the support.  The students loved the pep rally, the chalked sidewalks on the school grounds, and all the support.  A big thank you to lunchroom manager Mr. Williams and 6th grade teacher Ms. Aguilar for joining the team at the race.

Boys Basketball - Northside League

10/15/2018

Picture
Anyone interested in playing for Waters’ 5th grade boys basketball team in the Northside Basketball League should attend a tryout/informational meeting in the Waters gym on Nov. 8 at 5:30 pm. For those who played last year, you’ll remember we typically have one practice and one game per week. Games start in January but final rosters are due Nov. 15. Cost, which covers registration, uniforms and referee fees, will be determined by number of participants. We will have 1-2 practices in December before holiday break. Please note this league is in addition to Waters school 5th/6th grade basketball team. You are welcome to try out for one or both teams.

There will also be tryouts for this same league for girls.  Grade levels and tryout times TBA.

New E-Books on Myon!

10/10/2018

Picture
All students continue to have access to Myon.  Myon is a collection of over 6000 ebooks that students can read.  There is also a daily news section and achieves which house over 2000 news articles.  At the request of students, we have purchased additional chapter books so all students should take a look this year to see the new books.

When getting into Myon, students should use cps.edu/clever.  If you are using a tablet, there is a free Clever app that you can download.  There is also a Myon App that is for downloading books if you are out of wi-fi.  Once you are to the CPS Clever site, they can either type in their CPS credentials OR wave their QR badge.

Students have reviewed how to use Myon in Digital Media class.  If you have questions, please reach out to Ms. Herman.
