Please see this flyer for more information about Movie Magic.  There is still spots available for students to take part in this program offered by CAPE.

Students will work collaboratively and independently on a series of short films this year. They will explore many different roles both in front of and behind the camera. They will learn fundamentals in film making such as different shooting and editing styles with an emphasis on how movement and sound play a role in cinema. Students will be encouraged to improvise and explore new ways of thinking about starting points and story-telling. Student and teacher feedback is also an essential part of the learning process. Central to this coarse is the magical, world-building potentials of cinema. The students Imagination is the driving force most important piece of equipment in our class.

This program is available to 4th-8th graders and will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday’s afternoon from 3:15-5:15 pm, starting Oct 1, 2018 to May 23, 2019. Room TBD! Students are expected to attend both sessions each week.

LSC Update: Allocation of WatersToday Funds

9/20/2018

We are starting off the school year with an unprecedented level of collaboration between community stakeholders, including the WatersToday fundraising team, school administration and instructional leadership team, staff, and the local school council (LSC), in the allocation of funds raised by WatersToday last year. At Tuesday’s meeting, the LSC voted to approve the recommended allocation of these funds for continued funding and personnel support for of our ecology program, essentials programs and recess/lunch programs, as well as the second phase of our technology upgrade, continued implementation of the STEAM initiative at each grade level, expanded after school programming, and collaboration time for the instructional leadership team with our grade level teacher teams. Below is the breakdown:
  • $42,500 for 4 new Chromebook carts, each with 32 Chromebooks
  • $4,750 for new color printers/scanners
  • $5,000 for essentials class supplies ($1,000 per program)
  • $5,500 for STEAM materials
  • $4,000 for ILT to lead GLTM PLC (paid collaboration time)
  • $9,000 for coaching stipends
  • $4,500 for after-school clubs
  • $2,750 for additional funds for 2018 spring non-tech wishlist
None of these programs, initiatives or materials could have been funded directly by our school budget. These unique learning opportunities are made possible through generous donations and support from Waters families, community members and local businesses. Thank you again to everyone who donated to WatersToday over the years. Here's to another great year!
