Scouting Continues to Grow

6/14/2018

Picture
Cub Scout Pack 3894 and Boy Scout Troop 894 want to thank the community for providing its feedback on family scouting. An overwhelming majority was in favor of girls being let into our programs led by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), and Queen of Angels' Father Jim has blessed this decision. Although the BSA has had co-ed programs for many years, bringing girls into their main programs is in line with the rest of the world, where Scouting has been co-ed for decades. It is important to mention that Girls Scouts at QofA is not being replaced. Girl Scouts USA is a separate organization from BSA, although we often work together. In fact, girls of our community will have the choice of joining the Girl Scout program or the BSA program … or both!

Starting this fall, girls can form all-girl dens for Cub Scout Pack 3894. Additionally, the Cub Scout program will be expanding to include kindergartners. In February 2019, Boy Scouts program will be updated and all-group troops (ages 11-17) can be formed. For more info, contact Cubmaster Charles Marsh or Lyzette Austen for BSA.

Thank you for supporting all our Scouting programs!
