Parking Problems at Drop-off and Pick-up

5/22/2017

Picture
No Temporary Parking in Alleys
Our neigbors east of Waters are getting frustrated with parents whose children attend Waters. Parents are lining the alley way with their vehicles, leaving them unattended and walking across to the school playground to pick up their children. Not only is this against city ordinance, alleys are not meant to be used as pass-through.

Waters is concerned that should there be an emergency, our neighbors cannot exit their garages. The police have been alerted and will patrol the area at dismissal time. They will ticket cars that are parked in the alley.

Thanks for your understanding.

Big Night: A Huge Success!

5/14/2017

Big Night Breakdown
Tuesday, May 16 – Gideon Welles 8:00 p.m.

Big Night 2017 was an incredible success this year. We surpassed our goal and raised over $75,000! Did you know this was our 11th annual fundraiser held at the Dank Haus? We've come a long way ... the annual Waters fundraising event was originally called The Last Hurrah and raised $20,000. Our Big Night success is helping WatersToday near its total annual fundraising goal of $200,000. We're getting awfully close! Thank you for everyone who donated and participated in the auctions and who joined us at the Big Night event.

Did you have a great time at Big Night this year? If you helped organize this year or would like to get involved in next year's event, we'd like you to join us for a gathering at Gideon Welles this Tuesday, May 16 at 8:00 p.m. Let's toast our success, talk about what worked and what we can do better. Hope to see you there!

Spring Book Fair
Tuesday, May 23-Thursday, May 25 –
Music Room 111 9:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Dreaming of lazy summer days curled up with a good book? It's time to stock up for the summer! The ever-popular Waters Spring BOGO (Buy One, Get One Free) Book Fair is back. All classes will have an opportunity to visit the book fair during the school day.

How does the book fair help our school? Reading 20 minutes a day is proven to drive academic success. Book fairs help to get books in the hands of our students. Also, 10% of every dollar spent will be given back to our school in Scholastic Dollars and used to boost classroom libraries and teacher resources!

It takes a village – volunteers are needed to run a successful book fair. Please consider helping out for an hour or two and have fun with the kids as they select some of their favorite books. Sign up here.
Find the class visit schedule here.

Thank you,
The Book Fair Team, Hilary Prosser and Beronica Rivadeneira-Mermuys
