Biodiversity Day and Bioblitz
Wednesday June 8 – Waters Grounds

Waters is hosting a Biodiversity Day and Bioblitz on our school grounds. A Bioblitz is a
n event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. At the event, students, teachers, parents, and local naturalists work together to get an overall count of the plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms that live in a specific place. One of the goals of the Bioblitz is to increase our awareness of how important biodiversity is, even in our urban environment!  A US Forest Service Bioblitz grant is funding materials for the ecology program. We will be using the iNaturalist website and mobile app to record and report our findings.
Here's a video of a Schoolyard Bioblitz.

Looking for a Certified Public Accountant...

5/27/2016

A grant that WatersToday received in fall included a requirement that the organization perform a financial audit for this fiscal year. A small local CPA firm has performed our audits in the past and they have done a good job but it is a significant administrative expense. So before we authorize that firm to proceed this summer, we’d like to reach out to the community for other possible contacts. If you know a qualified CPA who specializes in non-profit accounting who may be willing to perform an audit at a reduced rate, please contact Rick Bolliger.
