CPS Announces Budget Release

4/17/2018

CPS released budgets to Principals across the district today for the 2018-2019 school year. Overall, the CPS budget is increased by $60 million over the current school year's budget, including a 2.5% increase in the student-based budget, additional funding for special programs as well as at-risk students, and dedicated funds for special education students. Importantly, the funds will be allocated based on current enrollment rather than projected enrollment (which means schools will not lose money next year if they lose students). Our Local School Council (LSC) will provide an overview of the 2018-19 budget at our meeting Monday, April 30.

My Voice, My School Parent/Guardian Survey
Through Friday, May 11 – Online

The My Voice, My School Parent/Guardian Survey, created by University of Chicago's Consortium on School Research, is an opportunity for families to share with CPS their experience at Waters. This online survey takes only 5 minutes and is available in multiple languages. Teachers and students in grades 5-8 also participate in this survey, giving us a broad view from multiple stakeholder groups. Survey results (see 2017 report) are factored into our school's quality rating. Paper copies will also be available during Report Card Pick-Up tomorrow, April 18. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and provide your feedback about our school by May 11!

Special LSC Meeting
Monday April 30 – Waters Gym 6:00-8:00 p.m
Ever wondered how the school's curriculum is developed? Have feedback about what works well or what could be improved in the curriculum? Curious about next year's budget? Join your Local School Council (LSC) for a public meeting and workshop on the 2018-20 Continuous Improvement Work Plan (CIWP), which is the strategic plan developed by schools in CPS to drive the curriculum. Meet members of the CIWP team, learn about the strategies and action steps currently included in the plan, and most importantly, give us your feedback! CPS just released the school budgets for next year, and since the budget is aligned to the CIWP, the LSC will also be voting on the proposed budget. Public feedback on the CIWP will also be sought during the regular monthly LSC meeting on Tuesday, May 8 at 4:00  p.m. Contact the LSC with questions/comments.
