Monday, May 2 – Friday, May 6
We are all pitching in all week long to show our teachers and staff how much we value them. Each day will have a different focus, culminating in the annual Appreciation Breakfast.
Monday, May 2 – Gratitude
Spread the word, say thank you. It's so easy: thanks for holding the door, thanks for sending the weekly update, thank you for the feedback, thanks for posting to Artsonia, thanks for buzzing me in. Find something, anything and thank a teacher, staff or administrator, encourage your child(ren) to do the same. Plus, the teacher appreciation committee will be representing our families with a salty snack for all the staff and teachers, and letting them know, "You're all that, and a bag of chips!" Thanks to parent Andrea Goldstein for making these snacks and delivering them with her twin second-graders.
Tuesday, May 3 – Personal Notes
Put it in pictures or write it with words. Encourage your child(ren) to write a thank you card, poster, note, or email to a teacher, staff and/or administrator who is special to them. If you aren't sure how to spell a name or email address, here is the Waters Directory.
Wednesday, May 4 – Volunteering
Waters Garden – 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Join Mr. Leki in the garden for our weekly Garden Night and help out.

We will be delivering apples to all the staff and teachers. If you are available Thursday morning, let us know by emailing us with the subject: I ♥️Waters Teachers & Staff.
Thursday, May 5 – Teacher Treats
Thank you to our teachers for going the "extra mile" for our children. We are accepting 15-piece packs of Extra gum. We only need 45 more packs. If you can, please contribute, and let us know by emailing us with the subject: Gum. Donations are requested by Monday, May 2!
Friday, May 6 – Appreciation Breakfast
Conference Room – 7:30 a.m.
Please contribute to the ninth annual Waters Teacher and Staff Appreciation Breakfast. A group of volunteers will serve breakfast, provided by Waters families, to the teachers and staff before the school day begins.
We need a group of at least four volunteers to help set up the Conference Room at 7:15 a.m. and to then help serve breakfast and coffee to the Waters teachers, staff, and administration. We will also need at least four volunteers to help clean up from 8:30-9:00 a.m. Email us if you can help.
Families are asked to contribute a special breakfast treat, enough to serve 10-15 people. Please deliver your food to the school at 7:15 a.m. If you have a signature dish to bring, please bring it!
If not, we're assigning dishes as follows:
• Last name A – J: Protein such as bacon (very popular), eggs, chilaquiles, cheese, tofu scramble, frittatas, lox, etc.
• Last name K – R, Breakfast carb such as pastries, croissants, hash browns, pan dulce, bagels and cream cheese, etc.
• Last name S –Z, please bring sliced fresh fruit, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, or fruit juice.
If you are not able to bring your dish earlier, please feel free to bring it at at drop off at 8:15 a.m. We will leave it for teachers and staff to snack on throughout the day.
If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please email us or call Kathleen Matuszewich, Waters Today Volunteer Co-Chair at 773-433-0777. Thanks in advance for your contributions – the Waters teachers, staff, and administration are always very grateful to be celebrated!
We are looking forward to a GREAT week!
