Spirit Week at Waters

10/25/2015

Picture
Dear Parents,

This week is our annual "spirit week" at Waters!

We have set theme days for each day of the week. Enjoy the enthusiasm from our students and staff as they dress for each day. Our culminating activity is the annual Halloween Parade on Friday. We will walk the campus and show our spirit!  All students and staff are invited to participate.

We will also celebrate "Dia de Los Muertos" on November 2, 2015, a very special tradition that we recognize at Waters. We have some special activities planned this day for students.

Some of you may have received student ID cards this week. Please hold on to them. These cards will be used for lunch time (scanning) and during field trips. We may ask that you return them to your home room teacher. More information to come.

As special "Shout Out" to Carolyn Dean, our in house aquarium specialist!  Thank you for all your work with the "tank".  Our fish have never been happier! Check out the before and after photos below:

Go Cubs!

10/18/2015

Dear Parents;

Fall weather is upon us. Please be sure to send your child to school with appropriate clothing for the changing temperatures. We make every attempt for children to enjoy the outdoors during recess but if it is cool and your child does not have a jacket, we hesitate to send them outside.

Cubs fever has descended on Waters as they play the Mets to try and secure the National League Championship! We encourage our student fans to wear Cubs apparel on game days.

Thank you for helping Waters achieve 94% compliance through up-to-date student medical information. Families who have medical appointments scheduled for their child(ren) must turn in the medical forms as soon as possible upon completion.

Medical Information is Due

10/12/2015

Dear Parents,

Thank you to Mrs. Bricker and Mr. Raman for hosting our annual High School night this past Wednesday. It is never too soon to become familiar with the process of applying for high school. A representative from Amundsen shared information about the programs at our neighborhood high school. Did you know Amundsen is in the top 3 for the citywide International Baccalaureate (IB) program? Check out Amundsen – great initiatives are happening there – as you consider options for your child's high school.

This week is the final week to get your child's medical information turned in to your child's teacher. The deadline for medical exclusion is Friday, October 15. If you have made a doctor’s appointment, please email the appointment date to your child's teacher. You may also scan your forms and email to your child's teacher or fax to 773.534.5087. Please do not wait any longer or your child will not be able to return to school without current medical information on file.

I invite you to please join me at Coffee with Crespo next week!  It is the first one of the school year.  More details are included below.

High School Information Night

10/4/2015

Dear Parents,
This past week we held our annual Curriculum Night at Waters. I want to thank our staff for hosting and sharing their syllabi with you. If you were unable to attend the evening, all syllabi will be posted on our grade level classroom pages on our school website at www.waterselementary.org. A special thank you to WatersToday for arranging childcare with proceeds supporting our 8th graders Washington DC trip.

On Wednesday we will host our annual High School Information night at 6 p.m. in the Annex. This meeting is especially important for all 8th graders and their parents however we strongly encourage 6th and 7th grade students and parents to attend. It is never too soon to begin planning for high school.

And a reminder that the deadline for Medical forms is October 15. Please help Waters school reach 100% compliance and turn in your child's health forms. Failure to do so will exclude your child from attending school.
