Welcome Back to School! We are excited to have your child(ren) join us next on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 to begin our new year. We welcome our new families from around the globe who have joined Waters! It is always exciting to greet not only our new kindergarteners but also students in various grades.
We welcome Mrs. Beronica Rivadeneira-Mermuys to our fourth grade team and Ms. Dana Garrison to our Diverse Learners team. Neither teacher is new to Waters and we are thrilled to have them back! We thank Ms. Yalila Assria- Herrera for her years of service at Waters and wish her luck in her new endeavors.
Last spring, we came together as a school community and developed our CIWP(Continuous Improvement Work Plan). In this document there was an overwhelming request for more professional development opportunities. We are happy to share that many teachers attended professional development this summer on a variety of topics, ranging from technology, design thinking, reading strategies, and science. To learn more about these experiences, please watch for announcements regarding our LSC meetings where our staff will present. Our staff is excited to be back and ready to implement much of what they discovered during the conferences.
Just this week, our teachers were immersed in professional development on our newly purchased reading and writing curriculum, Reading Street for K to 5th and My Perspectives for 6th to 8th.
Please be sure to review our parent resource guide and our school website for additional information. New parents, please sign up for Green Notes, a weekly round up of activities/events at Waters. Returning parents, if you have never signed up, I strongly encourage you to do so.
Save the date for our annual parents only Curriculum Night on September 26, 2018 at 6:00 pm for new parents to Waters and 6:30 pm for returning parents. This event will conclude at 7:30 pm.
Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday, September 4th!
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Titia Kipp, Principal
Ms. Nilsa Alvarez, Assistant Principal
