Welcome to a new school year! The staff, teachers and I are excited to welcome our students and parents back tomorrow and we extend a special welcome to all our new Waters families.
Please check the parent portal for your child's teacher assignment. You may also want to refer to the list of teachers and assigned classrooms. If you have not yet dropped off your school supplies, please do so this week. You may drop off supplies in the hallway outside the office with your bag(s) clearly marked with your child's name, teacher's name and classroom number.
The school welcome packet is available online and printed copies will be available in the office by midweek. There will also be multiple forms sent home with your children later this week that must be returned to your child's classroom teacher. These forms and the student fee - which we ask be paid online - are all due on Friday September 16.
Please welcome the following teachers and staff:
- Ms. Jeannette Aguillar, 3rd grade Room 201. Ms. Aguillar was a student teacher at Waters and knows our school and the children very well. We are excited to have her work alongside Ms. Katsoulos and Mr. King!
- Ms. Jessica Collins, 5/6 grade Room 304. Ms. Collins worked in Wisconsin as a teacher and recently moved to Chicago. We are excited to have Ms. Collins on our staff.
- Mrs. Carolyn Frieswyk, 5/6 grade Room 308. Mrs. Frieswyk has worked in CPS for several years and she is also a CPS parent. We look forward to Mrs. Frieswyk sharing her teaching talents with Waters school.
- Please welcome back Ms. Josie Espinosa, Ms. Ginger Schmidt and Ms. Alejandra Prado, last year's kinder aides. There are only two kinder aide positions this year but one position is being shared by two people.
In addition, we would like to say thank you and "see you later" to Ms. Nadine Zelle. Ms. Zelle has taken a teaching role at another school. We wish her the best as she continues her teaching practices. She will be sorely missed at Waters!
We're very excited about the coming year with new curriculum efforts such as ROAR and STEAM in place - we'll share more information during our upcoming Curriculum Night. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday September 21 with a 6:00pm start for new families, including Kindergarten, and a 6:30pm start for returning families. This will be a parent-only event.
I look forward to seeing as many students as possible tomorrow at 8:15 am! Please refer to the welcome packet to determine which entrance your child should use to enter the school.
Thank you and have a beautiful week!
