Another week of blessed weather, packed with adventures for our kids.
Last Friday on the CTA heading out to Montrose Point with 7th grade room 302, an elderly fellow who was getting off the bus took the time to tell me that he had overheard the conversations of some of our students: "Extraordinary! Thoughtful, kind, funny. Please let their teacher know how impressive they are!" There you go!
Potato Tuesday...
with the 1st grade farmers who planted them last spring.
Room 111 at 11:30
Room 205 at 12:30
Room 211 at 1:15
If you can help please come out to the garden 15 minutes early.
On Wednesday, Oct. 21, Room 209, 4th grade is off to Sauganash to learn about communities of plants, to collect rare seed, and to seek out wonders in nature. Volunteers meet at 9:00, bus leaves at 9:30, picnic lunch at 12:15, and back to school by 1:00.
On Thursday, October 22, 3rd Grade, Room 201, take their maiden voyage to Sauganash to face the wild places: the thorns, stinging insect, the teeth and claws, the barbs and poisons; the challenge to copy the ways of the foxes, the deer, the coyotes: self-aware, quiet, smooth, tuned in to the place and the moment. They are psyched and ready to go! Join us at 9:00, bus leaves at 9:30, picnic lunch at 12:15, and back to school by 1:00.
