Fundraising: Supporting Waters
THE GROW FUND
The reality today is that we get LESS from a public education then we did in the past. Fundraising allows us to give our children important enrichment programs like Full-Time Music and Ecology, which end up on the chopping block first.
Last year, our Music and Ecology Programs were funded at the 9th hour We need predictable funds established at the start of the year.
Investment vs. Lottery thinking:
“Anyone who spent last year hoping that we would raise enough money... but
never being really sure...to fund the music position, would understand how
important "expected" funds are to the school. The way we've been doing it is
just a few steps above hoping to win the lottery year after year. Funds that
are more predictable will be so much better for planning and budgeting.”
Introducing: The GROW Fund:
GROW: Greater Resources and Opportunities for Waters
We can’t depend on CPS.
We can’t depend on the Illinois State Budget.
We can’t depend on yearly grants.
But we can depend on ourselves as parents to invest in our kids’ education: The GROW PLEDGE – a yearly pledge to commit to every year. This will give us a predictable cash flow from year to year.
Family pledges will be our main source of fundraising. If we are successful at raising this money, the PTC can supplement with other lower cost events that everyone can afford.
Our goal this year is $75,000.
Our Fall goal through the FLOWER POWER PLEDGE aims to raise $60,000 up front.
We urge every Waters family to make a Flower Power Pledge in the fall of 2010, as a once-a-year donation. Stay tuned for more details to come on the pledge drive and how you can help.
Please, invest in your kids.
