Agelina points out the squares she made in Global Explorers, an afterschool program dedicated to teaching world cultures to children. This project was called the Chicago-Jamaica Culture Quilt (Set), and was exhibited in the Children’s Museum in Navy Pier last year.

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL

Before School Care: Early Birds (Cuido Antes de la Escuela)
Supervised before school care provided by Waters School. Students can be dropped off at 8:00am, Monday - Friday. Breakfast available at 8:30 am.
Cost for Early Birds is $100/mo/child.

Full Day After School Care: YMCA
After care provided by the YMCA at Waters, Monday thru Friday from 2:45pm – 6:00pm. Program is available for students in K-8. Session runs for 8 weeks, 5 sessions total for the school year and available as of the first day of school.

There are 3 plan to choose from:
M, T, W, R, F $394 for members, $525 for non-members
M, W, F $324 for members, $380 for non-members
T, R, F $324 for members, $380 for non-members

Registration and first payment to be made at the Lakeview YMCA, 3333 N. Marchfield, 773-248-3333. Become a YMCA member for the lower cost. Registration will be open till sessions are filled, maximum of 45 students per session.

Other After School Programs
All After School students will get a snack promptly at 2:45. They will proceed to their afterschool room, where they will eat until their program begins at 3:00pm.

Global Explorers
Wednesdays – 3:00-4:30
Program teaches the importance of cultural differences in our world through art, music, drama and folklore. Program available for students in K-4

Spanish Immersion
Tuesdays and Thursdays (twice a week) – 3:00-3:45
Students are taught spanish through language immersion. No English is spoken Students participate through games, song, and art and play activities. More advanced students learn to read and write in Spanish. Offered to grades K-4.

Go Get Your Smock
Tuesdays – 3:00-4:00
An on-site after school art program for elementary aged artists. Small groups of only 12 students provides lots of personal attention. Age appropriate classes, materials and instructions means all artists work comfortably at their own level. First come first-served. Offered to grades 1-3.

Mad Science
Mondays – 3:00-4:00
This leading science enrichment provider delivers unique, hands-on science experiences for children that are as entertaining as they are educational. Mad Science encourages scientific literacy in children in an age when science is as vital as reading, writing, arithmetic. Offered to grades K-5.

Chess Team/Club
Club is open to 1st – 8th graders. Last year our 1st grader, Moses Carrisoza, took first place in the city championship!

S.E.S. Tutoring Program
Tutoring opportunities available for eligible students 1st – 8th grades. Applications Most students who qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch program will also qualify for this program.

S.C.A.L.E.
This is a 5-year grant from Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education. Focusing on art, ecology and media, 3rd-5th graders can participate in the this awesome program.

All Stars
This 2-part program focuses on homework and sports. Open to 4th-8th graders.
